University of Thinkers and Doers

Altered Planes Entertainment
APE's Cafe Hardware Jungle Computer Outlet Store

There will be one computer retail outlet and game playing/instruction store in Kansas City , Missouri and one in Kansas City , Kansas

Each store will have four sections.

Stores broken down into four areas:

1) Customer service counter
2) Game playing area
3) Game creation and design-Research and Development
4) Computer assembling area

At the Computer Retail Outlet stores, walk in traffic will approach the customer service counter; customers will place their orders for computers, computer or game components, or other merchandise. Customers will be able to purchase fully assembled computer systems or purchase merchandise, including special order items the stores do not carry. Other items such as computer and electronic products assembled at APE locations will be available including printers and communications equipment. If the customers wish to purchase special order products, these items will be ordered for pick up by the customers) or installed into the customer’s computer system.

Game playing/instruction: high school students with a student ID can play games, with instruction on games available. GED graduates students, youth/adults, can obtain game playing/instruction passes from the testing centers where they took their GED tests. Individuals trying to enter either store must have a student ID from the school district in which the store is located. No one will be allowed to enter the game playing/instruction area without proper school ID. The Computer Retail Outlet and Game Playing/Instruction Stores are designed to help students with no computer available to them at home. Game playing is for a period of no longer than two-hours per day. If they lack knowledge on playing certain games, instructors with knowledge on games will be available to the students. Special passes may be given out to area school districts outside the stores) locations. This would determined by those school districts which feel some of their students have special skills necessary to play games or for the creation and development of games. (See below how playing games increase knowledge.) Game playing stations will be designed as customer service stations (Octagon) stations, to discourage interaction with other players.

Game Creation/Design: university students involved with Altered Planes Entertainment programs will watch for and select high school students with special talents playing games or interested in the creation and design of games. These students may be eligible to work with our professional game creators and designers to explore if this might be a promising field for them to pursue.

Altered Planes Entertainment-Game, Media Division-R&D professionals will be in real time developing the “Next Generation of Computer and Computer Game Technology”. Students involved and given the privilege to study under these professionals will be limited unless they are experienced enough to follow though on their assignments. These Professionals have skills as:

Artists
Animators
Lead Artists / Animators
Game Designers
Creative Directors / Lead Designers
Programmers
Lead Programmers
Technical Directors
Game Testers (beta testing will be done in the game playing stores)
Public Relations and Marketing
Hardware Engineers (Computers)
Software Engineers (Computers)

Some of Altered Planes Entertainment programs could apply to gaming students enrolled in community colleges at:

Metropolitan Community College Kansas City-Longview Campus
Johnson County Community College

This would be by invitation only. A Dean of Technology would have to request their students to join our programs, they would have to issue a pass allowing them to participate, unless their institution was a member of Global Youth Development, Inc Advisory Board as a full time member, then their students would be allowed to participate full time in our programs.

Altered Planes Entertainment-Computer Computer Outlet Store will assemble fully computer systems. Walk in traffic can place orders on site or order online. Fully assembled computer systems will be assembled upon request for corporate, home use, or high-end computer systems for gamers. These are special order computer systems, and each will be assembled based on individual specifications with funding in place before any computer assembling has begun.

When and if computer sales are on a much larger scale, Altered Planes Entertainment Corporation will move its World Headquarters to “the caves” located at 1501 West 31st Street , Kansas City , MO. The caves is where fully assembled computer systems on large scale will take place, such as online sales, including Altered Planes Entertainment where game creation and design will be housed on much larger scale also.

Customer Service and Tech Support is the most important in any business, Altered Planes Entertainment will be the best in the business. Employees in customer service will be university students, casual workers 65+, and professional customer service representatives with experience to serve Altered Planes Entertainment and Global Youth Development, Inc.

Altered Planes Entertainment computer technicians will be professionals working with students from local universities or enrolled in computer science or technical schools in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area.

Altered Planes Entertainment Computer Retail Outlet and Game Playing/Instruction Stores in Missouri and Kansas will be connected through a server so only authorized games can be played by the high school students. The server will be located at Altered Planes Entertainment World Headquarters. Those games are not only to help the disenfranchised high school students play and understand games better, but hopefully will spark more interest in staying in school and graduating. The computer game stores are designed to find high school students with special interest in computers and computer game knowledge. Those students may be allowed to work part time in the stores instructing other students, working the customer ordering retail counter and assembling computer systems etc.

High school students with special talents will be instructed in some knowledge of programming, encouraging them to stay in school and enroll in one of the local community colleges offering game classes. Programming instruction will be available to university students wishing to work at the stores if they need extra instruction.

All university students will have one-on-one personal time on several occasions with Altered Planes Entertainment’s trained professional staff.  This will be:

Big benefit to any student wishing to continue in game creation and design.

Big benefit to the university students and high school schools the students are attending

Big benefit to the communities

Safety issues:

Both Computer Retail Outlet and Game Playing/Instruction Stores will have web cams so customers and viewers worldwide can watch computers being assembled on site. Other areas viewed will be the sales counter, game playing etc. This in not only for safety, but it might encourage other high school students to become involved. These Computer Retail Outlet and Game Playing/Instruction Stores can be viewed from classrooms at any school, home, or business around the world, and this might encourage others to contact Altered Planes Entertainment institute and Global Youth Development to place this type of program in their community.

The web cams will be monitored 24/7/365 for safety reasons; Altered Planes Entertainment will work closely with local police and city councils to provide safety to guests, students, and employees during and after hours.

High school students could pass on knowledge to other students lacking gaming skills to be an integral part of these programs for helping others. Not only is Altered Planes Entertainment working with area university students for hands on education to reinforce their knowledge, but with the disenfranchised high school students lacking computer skills. Altered Planes Entertainment hopes that this will close the gap between the have, raised owning their own computer systems, and the have-nots, low-income high school students who do not have access to computers.

Altered Planes Entertainment will ask the communities and corporations to donate used computers to Global Youth Development 501 C 3 Not For Profit so the students can use APE locations to upgrade these computers to take home.

Altered Planes Entertainment will ask local providers to hook up these high school students homes so they can sign in and use our server to play games or other computer needs. For the high school students working and helping others in instruction on any computer needs including game instruction, APE will pay these high school students and may include paying their monthly provider while they continue working for APE.

Altered Planes Entertainment on the Next Generation of Computer and Game Technology, this will be a big help for university students wishing to continue on working for Altered Planes Entertainment.   Costs will be offset by charging for advertisements posted on Altered Planes Entertainment web site giving the customers worldwide sales opportunities.

I hope this program will fit in with local universities in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area and these universities will feel it would benefit them to sit on Global Youth Development Advisory Board, and benefit their university, their university students, high school students, and communities making up the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area.

How high school students benefit:

The game the high school students will be playing are interactive games played on the internet through our servers. Students play games in real time with others worldwide. Students interact with other players via microphone, but can only interact with tech support through typing on the keyboard. Tech support replies via keyboard as well. Typing is important because when the game is not working right or a character is off line, outside the game’s perimeters, the game player cannot respond, so can be disabled by the game player’s opponent.

Increase in communicating and interacting with the in public, increase in typing skills, increase in eye and hand coordination due to game playing all benefit the student. Working with Altered Planes Entertainment-Game, Media Division’s professionals give the students a chance to find additional skills they may not realize they have.
